Joseph McConnell, frequently credited by his nickname 'O.D.', has been involved with filmmaking & theatre since the age of 8. His Uncle Hans Jaray, who was a well known actor & playwright in Austria during the 1930's & 40's, helped to mentor the young filmmaker.
At the age of 19 Joseph shot his first feature film 'David' on a budget of $5,500, which he raised by recycling bottles and cans. The film was well received and showcased at the Berrie Center for Performing Arts of New Jersey in 2003 as well as the Fistful of Homegrown Film Festival in Kingston, New York. Upon graduation from Ramapo College of New Jersey in 2004, where he attained a B.A. in Contemporary Arts with a concentration in Film Studies, Joseph worked on various productions such as Donald Trumps 'The Apprentice', The Florida Film Festival and he also worked as a videographer shooting weddings, concerts, corporate interviews, sporting events & theatrical performances.
After receiving a grant in 2004 from The Puffin Foundation Ltd. for his short film 'The Winds of Exile', Joseph travelled to San Fratello, Sicily to research and begin work on his screenplay, 'In Love, In Death'. The screenplay won 1st prize at the 2007 Canada International Film Festival and was a finalist at the 2006 Beverly Hills Film Festival. www.inloveindeath.com

That summer Joseph directed a short film, 'My Hammer, My Friend:The Musical' which has been screened in 5 festivals and won the Best Musical award at the 2007 Bluegrass Independent Film Festival. The film also won Most Creative & Best Comedy at the 2006 Filmerica Festival.

The film is anticipated to be screened in the summer of 2008. He is currently enrolled in Writers Boot Camp Professional Screenwriting School.
